I Dream a Dream … & … a bit more to offer
Adjudicators and the audience were skeptical when 47-year-old chubby and plain looking Susan Boyle stepped onto the stage of Britains Got Talent 2009. Yet, as soon as her soulful voice chanted I Dream a Dream (from Les Miserables), she overwhelmed those who judged her by her appearance with shock and shame.
What is more, when being asked what’s on her mind during an interview after winning the contest, Susan who has been slightly mentally challenged since childhood, and who is single, unemployed and has been living alone after her mother’s death, says, inter alia, that she just wants to have a bit more to offer to this world. (The foregoing information is derived from a clip of Cable News Hong Kong broadcasted on 16 April 2009).
